Work Adjustment Training

VSP’s Work Adjustment Training (WAT) program, a job readiness service set within LifeBridge Health departments, promotes the development of appropriate work behaviors, abilities and retention skills.

WAT is designed to meet the needs of individuals with a history of difficulty in obtaining or retaining employment. WAT encourages each individual to improve task production speed, task quality, stamina and attendance as well as their interpersonal skills through emphasis on the demands and value of work.

Each participant is assigned to a department or unit according to his or her needs, interests and vocational goals. A training site supervisor and WAT counselor work closely for the maximum benefit of the trainee and provide on-going evaluation and feedback. Instruction focuses on attendance, punctuality, grooming, hygiene, interpersonal skills and productivity. Through vocational, individual and group counseling, issues such as employer expectations, assertiveness, accommodations, interviewing and listening skills are explored and enhanced.

Job placement services can be provided for a fee to WAT program graduates.
